Cookies

To make this site work properly, we sometimes place very small data files called cookies on your device. Most websites these days do this too.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

Almost all modern websites use cookies. They have many applications, such as: tracking users as they navigate around a website to improve their browsing experience; remembering user preferences and shopping cart contents; auto-logins for visitors coming back to a site; and website security.

What are the different types of cookies?

A cookie can be classified by its lifespan and the domain to which it belongs. By lifespan, a cookie is either a:

  • session cookie which is erased when the user closes the browser, or
  • persistent cookie which remains on the user's computer/device for a pre-defined period of time.

As for the domain to which it belongs, there are either:

  • first-party cookies which are set by the web server of the visited page and share the same domain, or
  • third-party cookies stored by a different domain to the visited page's domain. This can happen when the webpage references a file, such as JavaScript, located outside its domain.

What types and how do we use cookies?

We use both session and permanent first-party cookies to help identify your computer so we can tailor your user experience.

We use first-party cookies to store your preferences during your visit (session cookies deleted after your browser is closed). These cookies are essential for a proper functionality of our website, and to enhance the performance of the website. We strongly encourage you not to delete nor block these cookies.

In addition, your acknowledgement of cookies on our website is also saved in the form of cookie - so that you will not have to accept it everytime.

We also use third-party coookies that are set by listed below third-party services we use for our website. Please note that we are unable to control third-party cookies nor disable them individually.

Note: Most services that offer cookie-based tools provide opting out of data collection for Online Behavioral Advertising. If not, you can opt-out of network advertising at http://optout.networkadvertising.org/#/

How to control cookies?

You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see http://www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.
